💫 Just got back from the Global Beauty & Fashio 💫 Just got back from the Global Beauty & Fashion AI Forum hosted by Perfect Corp @youcamapps—and wow, so much to unpack! When it comes to something as personal as beauty, AI and AR can feel like a hyper-personal shopping guide. But the key is knowing where and when to use the tech.

For high-impact, sensorial experiences, customers still value in-store interactions. It’s crucial for brands to apply AI and AR where it truly matters (like reducing frequent product returns) rather than as a sweeping replacement for what already works.

Chief Growth Officer Wayne Liu put it best: “You need a purpose with any AI project, like solving customer problems.”

In just a few years, we’ve seen many iterations of AI tools like ChatGPT but we’re still far from solving the world’s biggest challenges. I’m left wondering- can AI/AR drive customer loyalty in ways that also support sustainable lifestyles? Can it make recommendations based on things like plastic-free or even ethical supply chains? 🌱💡

Where do you see AI helping humankind, especially in terms of sustainability? Should brands embrace it now, or wait until we solve for energy and environmental challenges first?

Each year I look forward to attending @luxepack, where I get to talk with suppliers about beauty packaging innovations and collect industry insights from beauty companies @experimentwrld, @aveda, and @esteelauder. As a sustainability consultant, it’s important to engage with brands and suppliers to understand what’s really happening in the beauty industry.

This year’s big theme?
🌿Materials and waste reduction, especially plastics. Global regulatory pressure is accelerating positive change, creative thinking, and better business strategies (sustainable, of course!)

I saw firsthand material innovations in beauty packaging and increased competition.
